These top KZN golf courses are certainly worth a shot. Some offer urban city views, while others boast stunning Indian Ocean sea views along this popular stretch of coastline. Golfers are definitely spoilt for choice. Here are a few of our favorite courses:
- The Durban Country Club has hosted 17 South African Opens and is ranked as one of the World’s Top 100 golf courses. Just minutes away from Durban Central, this course boasts stunning sea views and undulating fairways that have been built on sand dunes.
- Royal Durban Golf Club is situated in the middle of a horse racing track on the perimeters of Durban Central. It’s hosted some renowned golfing tournaments including the South African Championships and the Commonwealth Tournament in 1975. It is flat, tree-less, and is known for its unforgiving rough.
- Selborne Country Club and Golf Course is South African’s first residential golfing estate. Situated in the lush tropical coastal town of Pennington, this course affords golfers breathtaking scenery and beautiful manicured fairways.
- Zimbali Country Club is amongst the top 10 courses in South Africa and caters to players of all abilities. Located just outside of Ballito along the Dolphin Coast, the tranquil surroundings of forest & sea make this par-72 ‘cart only” course a 5-star golfing experience to enjoy.
- Simbithi Country Club lies on the rolling hills of the Natal north coast. Designed by Peter Matkovich, this course provides a unique African golfing experience with its different bird species, dams, and indigenous vegetation.
- Mount Edgecombe Country Club consists of two 18-hole championship golf courses – The Woods (parkland layout) and The Lakes. Both have sizeable residential estates on them, both offer the discerning golfer a game like no other, and both are playable by golfers of any handicap.
