Walking on Sunshine in Durban

Category Lifestyle

Durban's impressive new 750-metre promenade extension is now open to the public.   It is Africa's longest uninterrupted waterfront promenade stretching 8km's from Blue Lagoon to the Durban Harbour entrance.  The extension is 30 metres wide, wheelchair-friendly, and features public change rooms and toilets, lifeguard towers, an amphitheatre, and pedestrian ramps.    The new extension will allow you to walk, jog or ride from the harbour mouth all the way to Blue Lagoon.

Durban's eThekwini municipality mayor, Mxolisi Kaunda, said that the promenade extension cost R380 million and forms part of the R35 billion Point Waterfront urban renewal development that will attract investors and boost tourism.
